Mariel is essentially interested in creating works that call for the participation of the audience to the same extent as her involvement in it.

She defines herself as a storyteller, but her mission is not to tell anyone the story, but to make them “feel” it and to be immersed in the scene.

Her passion for travel keeps her moving around the world exploring different cultures, capturing unique moments.

Her artwork is influenced by photo images taken by herself.

The subject ranges from figures of primarily women to Irish landmarks.

Mariel is constantly searching for diverse formats to express herself.

This search has enabled her to create new abstract artworks.

She relies on colours – especially her

distinctive bold red- as a major element in projecting the emotional content in her paintings.

She works with a variety of media, ranging from acrylics, ink, watercolour markers, and sand.

She loves working with palette knives as well as brushes.

She tends to apply mixed media which provides a unique surface to her work.
